Between warehouses, shopping malls and a power plant chimney, there is a Wild West cowboy village in the outskirts of Berlin. It is a private estate where a group of people live out their fantasies of the Wild West, hidden behind a palisade trench.
It all started in the 1960s, when the first members of the so-called Cowboy Club named 'Old Texas' constructed a ranch along the lines of American western movies.
'Old Texas' is not an amusement park for tourists but a place of sanctuary for the club members. All of them dedicate a huge amount of their time to the club and share a fascination for cowboy rituals, country music and even guns. Many of them have never actually been to Texas or the United States in general.
Due to the construction of massive industrial buildings in the surrounding metropolitan area of the village, the club members have had to dismantle and rebuild their village in different spots several times, but they have never given it up. In 2020 the club had it's 70th anniversary.
